"You can learn a lot more from listening than you can from talking. Find someone you do not agree with in the slightest and ask the to explain themselves at length. Then take a seat, shut your mouth and don't argue back. It is physically impossible to listen with your mouth open" John Moe
Thank for the advise Starbucks cup, but I would prefer to not waste my time listening to hippies and those with bleeding hearts (you know who you are).
Glad to hear you liked the advise, Joe. Also, and I am not making this up, Joe posts each day's Garfield strip on his blog. Sometimes I just have to stop typing when I...

Keep in mind you did say "you can LEARN more from listening than from talking", which does sort of imply that one would of course be INTERESTED in actually learning something they didn't already know, as opposed to - well, being absolutely certain they already KNOW everything.
Now, if it were going to be the bleeding heart hippies shutting up and listening, Joe would surely take the opportunity to talk.
Everybody wants to be the mouth. I, too, enjoy being the mouth. Everybody thinks the mouth is Batman and the ears are Robin. The ears are absolutely Batman. The mouth usually isn't even Robin. It's closer to Scooby Doo, really.
Well, in the context of your analogy, I would say the mouth is definitely The Joker.
Because what, invariably does The Joker due when he has Batman captured, hogtied, and completely at his mercy? He yaks and yaks about how, as soon as Batman is out of the way, he's going to do this-and-that-and-the-other-and-oh-won't-that-be-fun, while Batman just sits and nods as he's methodically cutting through the ropes with the Bat-mini-laser he's had hidden up his gauntlet the entire time.
